  • 1:48 That story is 100% invented: essentially, our eyes can interpret red, green and blue light, so other devices like computers include sections of those colors to simulate color. I'm not criticizing this channel for misinformation, I simply wanted to point that in order to avoid confusion.

  • In Chinese, the character 青 (“ao” in Japanese) means turquoise or blue-green. However, in Chinese green vegetables are called “turquoise vegetables”, green hills are called “turquoise hills”, and there’s an old phrase that calls black hair as “turquoise silk”.

  • the Czech equivalent of blue-indigo-violet would just be blue-violet, as we don't have a separate word for a colour between blue and violet. We also use the same word for violet and purple. Also, orange in English means the colour as well as the fruit, but in Czech they are two different words. The two Russian words for blue are "goluboy" - light blue, and "siniy" - dark blue. Goluboy in Russian also means gay.

  • If you think about it, our color schemes aren't that solid in English, either. ROY G. BIV has clung on as a tidy acronym, but when was the last time you heard anyone refer to anything as Indigo or Violet? I think most people nowadays knock off the last two and replace them with Purple. Kids' books about colors and rainbows mostly just list those six colors, not seven.

  • who else learnt that the word 青 (which the kanji is taken from chinese which means green) can mean blue and green from detective conan? The episode where the ambiguity of Ao meaning both green and blue lead to a person dying 030~ p.s. which funny enough, the kanji for midori 绿 also means green in chinese, and we kindda just use 绿 and 青 as green unlike other language where different "green" or "blue" means a darker or lighter color. It probably does have a different but most of us dont care XD
