  • Thank you for your good review! I’m looking for the mirrors you have in your bike. What brand is it? Thx for your support

    • @Matt Billenstein yes, this makes sense. Thank you so much for your thoughts and feedback.

    • @Burkhart Fees they catch more branches and get folded back easier - and i think I can see fine with the shorter ones...

    • @Matt Billenstein ah ok. So you think the 6” are to long for off-road riding?

      Burkhart FeesBurkhart Fees3 kuukautta sitten
    • Note, i did switch to the 3” arms, haven’t done a long ride with them yet, but i think i prefer them...

  • Great looking EXC. my 2021 500 arrives on Saturday. What size tank did you go with? Have you done tune/end cap yet? I will also be looking to clean up the rear with help from Tacomoto and/or Sickass.

    • @Schei MJ some bdr sections are almost 200 miles, so 3.9 is perfect imo

    • @Matt Billenstein @Matt Billenstein I just ordered the 3.9 for my FE501S. I wasn't sure if the 3.1 would be big enough for some of the BDRs. I used a WR250R a few years ago with a 3.1 tank and the low fuel light came on at 100 miles, so I didn't wanna risk it! I'm keeping mine stock too, I read some people are getting 40MPG if you're not gentle on the throttle but otherwise getting closer to the 50+mpg that you mentioned.

    • Cool, I got the 3.9 Acerbis - this is over 200 miles range, I'm commonly getting 50-55mpg. I don't plan to tune - it runs great stock and has plenty of power for my needs. I'm currently doing a tail tidy with some nice LED signals. I'm more or less copying what another guy on that advrider thread did. The Taco Moto kit has the turn signals in the taillight which is so narrow, I'm not sure if people could tell which way you want to turn if they're not right behind you. I prefer to have actual signals sticking out the side. I might make a video on this when I'm done.

  • you need to change front and rear springs check Slavens spring chart rebound and dampening does not keep it from bottoming out

    • I did have the dealer put a racetech spring on the rear for my weight and gear setup - I might have been a bit over the weight on the luggage and camping gear. It was only bottoming coming out of really deep ruts and gullies, and I'll normally carry less weight, so maybe it's okay. Need to do some more measuring and tuning now that I'm home.

  • What make model saddle bags are you using?

    Jake ToddJake Todd6 kuukautta sitten
    • The small Giant Loop ones - Fandango I believe. Mostly tools in there.

  • What happened to the 530?

    GregamzGregamz6 kuukautta sitten
    • I rode that bike 4300 miles to SLC on the northern BDR routes - by the time I got to SLC it was using oil, so it was going to have to have an top-end rebuild, or maybe a piston and rings at a minimum. Also a leaking fork seal, chain that was pretty well done, etc. If it were in SF, I probably would have torn it down here and done that work, but I didn't have a good place to do that there. So, I decided to get a new one. I sold the 530 cheap to a guy who restores old BMWs and he's in the process of rebuilding that bike like new -- redoing the whole engine and everything. I hope he puts up some videos about it when he's done.

    • It’s a heat shield to keep the saddle bag from melting

    • Ah is it for protection?
